On November 9th 2024, MSSM held their Annual General Meeting. A space where the elections for key positions were held. The positions that were up for elections every year were: Event coordinators, Welfare Officer, Publicity Secretary, Media Officer, Sports Officers and Production Officer. It was a time for candidates to shine on stage and prove to the society why they deserve to be a part of the committee.
The AGM kicked off with speeches from outgoing and incoming presidents, Sang Jia Jing and Deena Faisal. Following this, the Secretarial Report and Financial Report, presented by Yan Qi Ding (outgoing general secretary) and Chelsea Choong (outgoing treasurer), highlighted MSSM’s achievements and financial stewardship.
The AGM then transitioned into the elections, where candidates would then present their motions to the committee and members of the society present. The allocated time for each candidate was 2 minutes. The determination, passion and vision of the candidates were on full display. Following the completion of their presentations, came the QnA session. A chance for the committee and members to dive a little bit deeper into the thought process of each candidate and their ideas. This allowed for a space to witness the candidates abilities in handling pressure and critical thinking on the spot.

After rigorous rounds, eleven individuals emerged as the chosen leaders. Farhan Azemi, Max Ng, Adelyn Tan, Liew Heng Joe and Arif Firman secured roles as events coordinators, Abdul Rafiq as the welfare officer, Tan Jie Yeong as the publicity secretary, Andrea Leng as the media officer, Justin Lee and Alisya Johan as the sports officers, and Syed Abdullah Shahabudin as the production officer.
These bright new faces of MSSM excelled in the AGM, filled with eagerness to uphold and improve the society in their own ways. After a challenging day, it concluded with a fresh start for the society. Under the stewardship of the new heads of the committee, the challenges and tasks of the future will be met with unrivalled wit and determination. Welcome to the new MSSM Committee 2024/2025!
