Students came together at the Student Union on December 11th, 2024 to share warmth and laughter while experiencing a taste of home. Lepak Kopitiam created a space for community bonding through Malaysia’s famous Teh Tarik drink which provided a warm and inviting atmosphere for relaxation and connection to celebrate Malaysian culture.
Attendees started the evening with warm chats while drinking hot Teh Tarik and enjoying sweet delicacies or ‘kuih’ in Malay. Students took advantage of the casual atmosphere to socialize with new acquaintances and experience the joy of being in great company.
The night progressed as Malaysia Night (MNight) received attention as a forthcoming celebration of Malaysia’s rich cultural legacy. Beginning with a throwback video to recap last years amazing performance titled ‘Coming of Age, From Home to Horizon’, we transition to the highly anticipated MNight 2025. The audience experienced an exciting sneak peek of this year’s performances introducing the performers showcasing Malaysia’s varied ethnic traditions through Malay, Chinese, Borneo, Indian styles. The introduction of each act created rising anticipation while showing attendees the amazing talent and energy MNight promised.
A competitive game united attendees into teams which introduced fun and excitement to the event. The room buzzed with laughter and teamwork while participants worked together to win while remaining cheerful. During the prize-giving session that concluded the competition, winners from both the team event and the lucky draw received special gifts which contributed to the celebratory atmosphere.
After the activities ended students kept chatting and sipping Teh Tarik while they savored lepak through their friendship time during the semester break. Participants exchanged comfortable and seamless dialogues while the evening’s warmth remained present long after the event concluded.
Lepak Kopitiam offered a night for a multicultural gathering centered around friendships and shared memories. The upcoming Malaysia Night began with this event which established the ideal atmosphere for a memorable celebration of heritage and unity.
