Building on the spirit of past cultural celebrations, the Malaysian Students’ Society of Manchester (MSSM) proudly hosted Asian Night this year. The event was held in collaboration with MALECS, the University of Manchester Taiwanese Society, Southeast Asian Society, Burmese Society, Jain Society, Echoes of China, and The KALSOM Movement, making it a truly diverse and vibrant celebration.

Asian Night began with an opening ceremony, followed by a variety of booths that stayed open throughout the event. Each society showcased unique parts of their culture through traditional food, games, and interactive activities. Attendees were welcomed by colorful displays and many students wearing traditional outfits, creating a warm and festive atmosphere. Music from different Asian cultures played in the background, helping everyone feel at home, even while far from their own countries.

At the MSSM booth, visitors enjoyed a range of Malaysian treats, including karipap, seri muka, bingka ubi, and classic Malaysian childhood snacks. These were well-loved by both Malaysians and those trying the food for the first time. MSSM also introduced traditional games such as Batu Seremban, Congkak, and Ceper, which encouraged friendly competition and laughter among participants. For those interested in art, henna hand painting was offered and quickly became a popular activity.

One of the highlights of the day was the cultural performances and the special “Culture in Conversation: The Human Library” session by The KALSOM Movement, which encouraged meaningful dialogue and understanding.

Asian Night was a joyful celebration of shared heritage and new friendships, and MSSM looks forward to continuing such collaborations in the years to come! ✨🥳
