MSSM kicked off Valentine’s weekend with a bang, literally! On Saturday, 14th February, members and non-members alike gathered for Shoot Your Shot, a Combat Archery event held at The Archertype in Manchester.
Participants met at the Students’ Union at 1:30pm before walking over together to the venue. Once there, everyone geared up for an action packed 90 minute session. The fun began with a 10 minute safety briefing and training, making sure even first-time archers felt confident before stepping onto the field.
Then came 75 minutes of pure gameplay during which the teams battled it out in fast-paced rounds of combat archery, dodging foam-tipped arrows while trying to eliminate their opponents. The competitive spirit was high, with players showing off surprising skill and plenty of laughs along the way.
The highlight? A 5 minute “Shoot the Boss” special event, where participants got the chance to take aim at their committee members — a crowd favourite that brought the energy to a whole new level.
With lowered ticket prices and limited spots, the event sold out quickly. It was the perfect Valentine’s Day activity — equal parts exciting, social, and memorable. A definite success for MSSM! 🏹❤️
