1. What are the different types of accommodation?
First, there are university halls:
• Apply through the university; view more info and photos on their website.
• There are three main areas: Fallowfield (near the Fallowfield campus, far from the Main campus), Victoria Park (very near Main campus) and City (near Main campus and North campus).
• A variety of options: ensuite, shared bathroom, catered and non-catered.
• Decently priced, options depend on your budget.
• Able to meet fellow university mates and have opportunities to socialise during ResLife events.
• A good mix of local and international students.

Then, there are private accommodations:
• 2 types: student accommodation (private halls) or rented houses.
• Options depend on your preference; distance from campus, rent price, facilities, shops nearby, etc.
• Suggested locations: city centre, Brunswick/Victoria Park area, Rusholme.
• Private halls tend to be priced similarly to university halls (or slightly higher) and can be found in most areas.
• Can choose to live with people that you already know or be allocated randomly (they will ask for your preference).
• A good mix of local and international students, though they might not attend the same university.
• Popular choices among students: VITA students, Sanctuary Students, CRM Students, iQ Accommodation, Unite Students.
• Rented houses tend to be cheaper than student halls (university or private) and are located mainly towards the south of main campus; these can be searched for online or through MCOT.
• MCOT helps promote rooms/houses rented out by other Malaysians, typically in Rusholme as it is usually cheaper, has a lot of options for halal restaurants / grocery stores and close to other Malaysians.

2. Which are the more affordable options?

3. If I’m studying accountancy at UoM, what is a comfortable place to rent that is also close to the university?
