As seconds and days ticked around the clock, students at the University of Manchester have finally sat through and completed their final exams. At MSSM, we believe that all hard work should be rewarded and what better way to celebrate the passing of yet another academic year than to throw a themed party?
It all began with cryptic riddles posted to our social media platforms, where eager participants guessed the theme of our event—A Night In Wonderland! After two semesters of extreme focus, it was about time that we let ourselves get lost in the wonder of things outside of the classroom just like Alice got lost in Wonderland.
As hedges were trimmed, signs were posted, and invitations were dispatched, the 12th of June came by like a whisper. Participants turned up to the Pendulum Hotel in their very best suits and dresses, each guest donning a different colour that truly lit up the place as if it were Wonderland.
Seats eventually filled and dinner was promptly served after a short speech by our outgoing President, Amanda. As guests dived into the course meal prepared by none other than the hotel staff, musical performances took place on the stage up front. From medleys to ballads, you won’t be surprised to know that MSSM does not suffer from a lack of musical talent.
Conversations bloomed in between melodic notes with our guests catching up on each other’s lives, discussing summer plans, and talking about everything that came to mind. Soon after, the lucky draw and crowning of Aces of the Night took place, both constituting the highlight of the event as some walked away with prizes while others walked away with crowns.
Concluding the night was a dance floor opened to a mix of slow and pop dances, a final hurrah and letting loose before the exit from Wonderland opened and everyone returned home, prepared for the summer ahead.
